Higher Photography Project Guide - Intro

This guide is designed to help you work independently to deliver your Higher Photography project to the best possible standard, in compliance with SQA requirements. It takes you from choosing your topic through planning, research, shooting, editing, printing, and submission.

This guide assumes candidates are using andeye’s Higher Photography course (free) for learning, ClickUp (free) for project planning, Affinity Photo 2 and Publisher 2 for image editing and contact sheets respectively (free to schools), and Loxley Colour for printing. However these are not necessarily the best options and candidates are encouraged to use any resources, tools, software and labs (or self printing) that they choose, and should adapt this guidance to suit.

If time permits, it would be best working through the preceding sections of this course or similar resources before finalising your theme and completing your research. However, as the project is worth 77% of your total grade, you should familiarise yourself with this whole guide now, start planning and ensure you can comfortably meet all your milestones and deadlines.

It is also prudent to get at least one potential set of 8 images ‘in the can’ as early as possible - in case all else fails. If all goes well, you can submit this as a contact sheet evidencing your development.
